Course description
Computing is an increasing part of life these days, and so it's important for young people to be able to discuss, think about, and draw their own conclusions about the impacts of technology. This course will help you to build the skills that you need to hold relevant, open, and exciting discussions in the classroom, including how you can research different topic areas to find new ideas for discussions.
On this course, you will also explore some of the ethical, legal, cultural, and environmental concerns surrounding computer science today, and think about how you might use discussions to help your students to understand them. Then, you will explore the best ways to help your students be productive and write long-form answers to questions, to demonstrate how they have understood a topic.
Although this course follows on the English Computer Science syllabus and legislation, you can use the same ideas and topics in your setting.
What you will learn
After completing these three modules, you will be able to:
Explain the links between technologies and their ethical, environmental, legal, cultural and privacy impacts
Debate topics covering the entire Computer Science curriculum
Develop plans for classroom discussions
Interest your students with well-framed, relevant questions
Summarise the main laws that affect the use of technology in your country
